Madeleine Scott daybook, 1910-1911

Scope and Contents Daybook for a store in Spartansburg covering the time period December 12, 1910 to May 2, 1911.  Most of the transactions listed are for food stuffs and cash.  There are a couple of entries for furniture.  In hand writing on the cover of the daybook is the inscription "Madeleine B. Scott, Spartansburgh PA."

Scope and Contents Two daybooks dating January 1909 to July 1909 measuring 8X13". On the cover of each is the name Leo Armstrong. An entry dated July 1, 1909 annnounces a "New Firm." The openning line reads, "Messers Jones and Mason have this day associated with them, George F. Smith who is to invest an equal amount of capital and share equally in the gains and losses as per contract." Each page of the daybooks identifies the location as being from Venango, PA.

Scope and Contents A class of 1962 name placard.  This 11X14" cardboard nameplate has a string used for hanging it around the neck.  These were worn by freshman students until the homecoming bonfire when they were thrown into fire.  This placard has the name Betty Kalo fro Duquesne.  She was an elementary major.

Scope and Contents The book was the property of C.A. and William Culbertson of Edinboro. It is an accounting of payments and bills for the period 1847-1861. It includes the names of Edinboro citizens and purpose of the transaction between them and the Culbertsons. The last several pages contains what appears to be letter written by Norma.
