James Harold Hopkins collection,

 Collection
Identifier: 200-220

Scope and Contents

This collection is the creation of J. Harold Hopkins, a 1919 graduate of Edinboro State Normal School. It contains documents typical of what a student would have possessed and other materials reflective of the Hopkins downtown Edinboro business. Thus it is a town and gown collection

Biographical Note: J. Harold Hopkins, as he was usually refered to, attended Edinboro State Normal school from 1916 to 1919. In the 1916 yearbook, Harold Hopkins was listed as a member of the Philo Literary Society. In 1920 he was listed as the sole "graduate" student, an unusual designation for the time. He was part of the Hopkins family that owned businesses in downtown Edinboro. One, a dry goods store, often advertised in school publications such as the yearbook. The collection also has a photograph of a Hopkins Insurance and Real Estate store on Meadville Street
