Biographical or Historical Information

Since 1860 when Edinboro became a state normal school, it has been a school for teacher training.  According to the 1870 catalog the goal of the school was to give "thorough and systematical instruction in all branches of learning taught in Common Schools." Graduates of the school received a Degree of Bachelor of Elementary Didactics. The Education Department is not listed separately until the 1919-1920 Catalog.Note written by Dave Obringer
