Scope and Contents

aThe collection ranges from 1961 to 1987. Although it should be noted, there are many items in the collection that are undated and may alter the date range. Within the collection, there is information on several productions performed at Edinboro under the direction of Mr. Williams. Other information includes Mr. Williams' dissertation material. The Elwood Williams Collection contains information regarding Mr. Williams' career at Edinboro as well as his dissertation work. The collection is separated in three series: drama productions, theatre scripts and dissertation and other related notes. There is a wide span of material within each series that reflects Mr. Williams' 17 year career.

Biographical Note: Elwood P. Williams was a professor of Drama/English at Edinboro University from 1970 to 1987. He earned both his Bachelor in Fine Arts (1960) and Masters in Fine Arts (1962) from the University of Texas. Mr. Williams obtained his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Kent State University in 1984. He directed several productions throughout his 17 year career at Edinboro. Additionally, he served as faculty advisor to the student organization Collegiate Players. This organization was open to all students and its purpose was to acquaint those interested with aspects of drama and its production.
