From the Series: This series contains information regarding the Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System (IPEDS) from 1986 to 1989. The IPEDS was the replacement for the HEGIS. The first phase of the transition process began in 1985- 1986. The reason for such a transition was to have a more integrated approach to the collection of data from institutions that offered post-secondary education. Many of the forms are similar to the ones used for the HEGIS. Within the series, there are directions to the IPEDS. The directions include a glossary of terms located in the IPEDS. Also, the directions include the Data Collection and Analysis Plan by State System of Higher Education. In 1986, there was a Fall Enrollment form. The forms from 1987 include Fall Enrollment, Fall Enrollment (specific programs), Completions, Finance Report, Total Institutional Activity (1986-87), Institutional Characteristics (1987-88), and Salaries of Full-Time Instructional Faculty (1987-88). The forms contained in 1988-89 files are Institutional Characteristics, Completions, EF1 Reports, and Completer’s Report. Finally, the forms from 1989-90 are the Fall Enrollment (1989) and the Salaries of Full-Time Instructional Faculty. Printouts were included with the above forms. Also, there were various letters regarding the transition from HEGIS to IPEDS within this series.
