This series contains documents and/or reports pertaining to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania from 1970 to 1993. The contense of these documents and/or reports vary. The series begins with a Report to the Faculty, Administration, Trustees of Edinboro State College. The report was presented by an evaluation team representing the Middle States Commission on Institutions Higher Education. The views of the evaluation team were presented in the report following their visit to Edinboro.
In April of 1970, there was an International Report on Edinboro State College completed and given to the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This report includes information pertaining to the Student Body & Student Personnel Policies, Faculty Resources for Teacher Education, the Physical Facilities (including the library), Basic Aspects of Undergraduate Teacher Education, Academic Policies relating to the Undergraduate Teachers, Undergraduate Curricula, Laboratory Expenses at the Undergraduate Level, Basic Aspects of Graduate Teacher Education, Graduate Programs for Teachers, and Graduate Programs for School Service Personal. There are two reports found within the series in 1974. The first report on Advanced Programs to NCATE. This report was based on the evaluation of both the basic and advanced teacher education programs. The recommendations from NCATE were included within the report. The second report contained the appendix for the advanced programs to the NCATE. This report contained the summaries of the professional education faculty. There are four reports found in the 1980’s. The first report (1980) was the Institution Report to NCATE Part I Undergraduate Programs. This report has a similar format as the Institution Report in 1970. In 1985, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania under the direction of President Foster F. Diebold proposed a Five Year Plan. Within this document, there ten institutional goals that the university was to achieve. Additionally, there were strategies to achieve each goal. The document was a representation of Edinboro University’s future. Also, in 1985, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania put together a Self-study for Baccalaureate and Master Degree programs in Nursing. EUP developed this study according the criteria for the Evaluation of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs in Nursing (the Fifth Edition). The report was submitted to the National League for Nursing Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs (Board of Review). This report contains the Appendix volume II of the self-study. In the Appendix, there were policies and procedures regarding the nursing program as well as curriculum vita, faculty profiles, etc. The Affirmative Action Prospectus of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania was created in 1989 under the guidance of President Foster F. Diebold. President Diebold reassured that Edinboro University was an equal opportunity employer. The Prospectus describes the programs and policies as well as strategies to improve the efforts to promote affirmative action. The document was in response to the goals established by the State System Affirmative Action and Equal Educational Opportunity Prospectus. In 1991, a space plan was generated by all the members of the Administrative Operations Committee (AOC) for review and approval by the President. When presidential approval has been granted and funding has been identified, project timelines were then established. In 1993, there was a proposal submitted by EUP for Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant Program. The focus of the grant program was two-fold. First, the program was to analyze the status of assessment at Edinboro. Second, the program was focus on the institution programs and services directed at serving the first-time undergraduate student. The proposal consisted of Institutional identification and overview context of application, assessments, freshman year experiences, grant administration/evaluation, summary budget and assurances forms. Also, within the series is an undated organizational chart of EUP. This chart breaks down the positions and duties of the administration. Finally, there is an undated Report on the Porreco Property by EUP. The property was donated by Lou Porreco, a longtime native to the Erie Area. The report discusses Mr. Porreco, his gift and describes the property. Also, the report discusses vital statistics of Edinboro University. The publication entitled Our Colleges and Universities Today provided statistical data and trends relating to higher education in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 1981, the publication released the ‘Summer and Fall Enrollments’. This report contained data from the surveys that each institution in the state responded to. The NCES and DEAS provided the surveys. The Pennsylvania Department of Education prepared a summary of Enrollments in Public Schools of Pennsylvania in 1981-82. This data was reported by various public school administrative units- school districts, intermediate unit offices and full-time vocational-technical schools. The Office of Institutional Research and Planning prepared the Academic Scheduling Report (1982). President Diebold requested this report to utilize all periods and days of the week for classes to increase enrollment. Finally, there are documents pertaining to the Fall Enrollment in Occupationally Specific Programs (1989) and Full-time Equivalent (FTE) Enrollment of Part-time students (1989). These documents were used for data collection by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
